BOWEL ISSUES
Gentle, Effective Care for Sensitive Concerns
Bowel symptoms are common but often under-discussed, and many can improve with the right support. At HerCore, we provide pelvic floor physical therapy for concerns such as constipation, straining, fecal and flatus incontinence, rectal pain, incomplete evacuation, and hemorrhoid-related discomfort. We also help address coordination challenges such as dyssynergic defecation, where the muscles involved in bowel movements are not working together efficiently. Our care focuses on improving bowel function, movement strategies, and coordination to support comfortable, confident daily activities.
SPECIALTIES
Relief for the Symptoms No One Talks About
Constipation
Difficulty having regular bowel movements, which may include infrequent stools, hard stools, straining, or a feeling that the bowels do not fully empty.
Straining During Bowel Movements
Need to push or bear down excessively during a bowel movement, which can occur when the pelvic floor muscles have difficulty coordinating relaxation to allow stool to pass easily.
Rectal Pain and/or Pressure
Discomfort, aching, or a sensation of fullness in the rectum that can sometimes be related to tension or coordination changes in the pelvic floor muscles.
Fecal and Flatus Incontinence
Involuntary leakage of stool or gas, which can occur when the pelvic floor and anal sphincter muscles are not coordinating effectively to maintain bowel control.
Incomplete Evacuation
Sensation that stool remains in the rectum after a bowel movement, which can occur when the pelvic floor and surrounding muscles are not coordinating effectively during bowel emptying.
Hemorrhoids
Swollen veins in the rectum or anus that can cause discomfort, itching, or pressure, and may be associated with straining or increased pressure during bowel movements.
